Hey guys, are pre-built face recognition APIs actually cutting it for anyone here, or are you all training custom models? Struggling with edge cases right now.

Man, we ran into the exact same wall last year. Generic APIs look great on paper until you throw real-world data at them and watch the error rates spike. For custom face recognition we didn't want an off-the-shelf API. Went with Data Science UA for a tailored model and the accuracy on our dataset was noticeably better. It actually learned our specific domain nuances instead of just guessing, which saved us a massive headache during deployment.
