I had to do this last summer while our flat in JLT was being redone, and honestly the furniture was the most annoying part of the whole renovation.

You really have two options. First, keep everything inside the apartment and shuffle it from room to room. I tried that for one week. Bad idea. Dust got into sofas even with covers on, the painters kept asking us to move side tables again, and I was constantly worried about scratches on the dining table. If your contractor is doing only one bathroom or one bedroom, maybe it works. For a proper renovation, I would not do it.

Second option is off-site storage. That is what we switched to, and it made life much easier. I found one through https://storagedubai.top/ and the main thing I cared about was simple, dry space and easy access, not fancy promises. Ask about pickup, item inventory, and whether they wrap larger pieces properly before transport. My mistake the first time was assuming "storage" included decent packing materials. It did not.

A few practical things I learned:

* Empty drawers before moving dressers
* Take quick photos of each item, especially anything already chipped
* Keep one small chair, one lamp, and basic kitchen stuff with you
* Label boxes by room, not by vague stuff like "misc"

Dubai-specific point, timing matters. If your building has strict move-in and move-out hours, book the lift early. Some towers are very annoying about this. I usually check general local moving and living articles on https://www.timeoutdubai.com/ just to keep up with what is changing around different areas, especially if you are juggling temporary accommodation too.

My verdict, if the renovation is more than cosmetic, store the furniture outside. It costs money, yes, but it saves your sanity and usually saves the furniture too.
